How We Help

Services & Pricing

Wealth Management starts with you.

At JRO Wealth Management, we offer services designed to help you manage your wealth in a manner that best supports you. Our goal is to help you navigate your finances, with special consideration paid to the complexities that come along with receiving equity compensation.

Here’s a deep dive into the services we offer:

Personalized Financial Planning

We’ll take the time upfront to better understand where you are and where you want to go. Then, we’ll work together to determine a strategy to help you get there. And because we know that circumstances change, we’ll aim to structure your plan with the flexibility to withstand those uncertainties.

In addition to tax planning and investment management, here are some other areas of financial planning we help with:

  • Cash flow

  • Risk management

  • Retirement planning

  • Estate planning

Some questions we’ve helped clients with:

You've been offered the chance to leave a public company to join a startup. How do you negotiate that job transition?

You've decided it's time to take a sabbatical (or you want to schedule one). How do you plan for that and ensure you're prepared financially?

You just had a liquidity event. What are your next steps?

You have the opportunity to participate in an upcoming tender offer or an open trading window is approaching. How do you decide how much to sell and, of your equity, what to sell?

Tax Preparation & Planning

Taxes play a role in many financial decisions, especially when it comes to equity compensation. While taxes are by no means the only condition to consider, it’s important to be aware of their impact. By doing tax preparation and planning, we can better plan your cash flow and help minimize any surprises.

Some questions we’ve helped clients with:

You’ve heard of an 83(b) election – does that strategy make sense for you?

You’re withholding taxes, but is it enough? How do you know whether you’re withholding enough in taxes when your RSUs vest or when you exercise your NQSOs or ISOs?

Your portfolio has grown. Has it grown enough that you should start paying estimated taxes?

Investment Management

Our belief: markets are pretty efficient, so let’s keep it simple.

Once we understand your current financial situation and future goals, we'll craft a personalized portfolio tailored to meet your needs. A lot goes into building the portfolio, but here are some high level insights into how we think about portfolio management:

  • We’ll build a solid base to support you. We do this by keeping costs low, being sensitive about taxes, and being diversified.

  • Your portfolio will be a mix of growth assets tailored to take care of future you and steadier assets tailored to help you meet short-term, unexpected liquidity needs. The split between the growth and steadier assets will be driven by your goals and comfort level.

Some questions we’ve helped clients with:

How much of your portfolio should you allocate toward long-term growth? How much should be allocated toward short-term steadiness?

You’re concerned you may be holding too much of your company stock - how do you take some chips off the table?
